US Envoy Reports Productive Talks with Russia Ahead of Upcoming Peace Negotiations in Abu Dhabi

Breaking News: US-Russia Ukraine Talks in Florida

United States special envoy Steve Witkoff met with Russian envoy Kirill Dmitriev in Florida. The talks focused on efforts to end the ongoing war in Ukraine. Witkoff described the meetings as “productive and constructive.”

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Jared Kushner, and White House adviser Josh Gruenbaum also participated in the discussions. Specific details of the meetings have not been disclosed.

This meeting comes a day before a second round of US-mediated talks between Ukraine and Russia in Abu Dhabi. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy indicated that the meeting might be delayed as Ukraine awaits more information from the US.

Last week, a first round of talks occurred in the United Arab Emirates, marking the first direct negotiations between Ukraine and Russia since the war began. President Donald Trump expressed optimism about nearing a deal to end the conflict.

Recent developments include an agreement from Russian President Vladimir Putin to pause attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure for a week during extreme cold weather. Both Ukraine and Russia have reportedly refrained from strikes on energy targets since Thursday night.

Key issues remain unresolved, including troop withdrawals and the potential deployment of international peacekeepers.
