Breaking News: Russian Drone Strike Kills 12 Mine Workers in Ukraine
A Russian drone strike has killed at least 12 mine workers in Ukraine’s Dnipropetrovsk region. The attack occurred on a bus carrying employees of the energy company DTEK, according to Ukraine’s Minister of Energy, Denys Shmyhal.
Seven other people were reported injured in the incident, which took place in the city of Ternivka. Shmyhal described the strike as a “cynical and targeted attack” on energy sector workers.
Footage from the State Emergencies Service showed a charred bus with shattered windows, indicating the severity of the attack. The victims were returning from their shifts when the strike occurred.
Earlier on the same day, regional officials reported at least nine injuries from Russian strikes on a maternity hospital and a residential building in the southeastern city of Zaporizhzhia.
This drone strike follows recent discussions between the United States, Russia, and Ukraine regarding a potential halt to attacks, particularly amid harsh winter conditions affecting civilians in Ukraine. Further talks are scheduled to take place in Abu Dhabi later this week.
