Breaking News: US Military Attack in Eastern Pacific
The United States military has confirmed an attack in the eastern Pacific Ocean, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and leaving one survivor. The US Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) announced the incident on Friday.
A video released by SOUTHCOM shows a moving boat being struck by a missile, igniting a fireball. The military claims the vessel was operated by “Designated Terrorist Organizations,” although no evidence has been provided to support this assertion.
SOUTHCOM stated that the boat was traveling along known drug trafficking routes and was engaged in narco-trafficking activities. No US military personnel were harmed in the operation.
This attack marks the third military strike in May alone. It follows a similar incident earlier this month where three people were killed. Since September, over 170 individuals have reportedly been killed in these operations targeting alleged narco-traffickers.
The US government has defended these strikes, equating drug trafficking to armed attacks on the US. However, critics, including international legal scholars and rights advocates, have raised concerns about the legality and ethics of these operations.
