Breaking News: U.S. Congress Proposes Bill to Deepen Military Ties with Israel, Enhancing Defense Technology Cooperation

Breaking News: New Bill Could Enhance U.S.-Israel Military Ties

A new provision in a bill before the U.S. Congress aims to strengthen military cooperation between the United States and Israel. The proposal, titled the “United States-Israel Defense Technology Cooperation Initiative,” is part of the fiscal year 2027 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

If passed, this measure would require the U.S. defense secretary to appoint a single official to oversee military collaboration between the two nations. This role would focus on joint research, weapon production, and data integration.

The bill is still in early stages and must be approved by the House Armed Services Committee, followed by votes in the full House and Senate. It has bipartisan support, proposed by both Republican Chairman Mike Rogers and senior Democrat Adam Smith.

The initiative could significantly change the existing military relationship, moving beyond American aid to deeper integration of defense industries. Currently, the U.S. provides Israel with approximately $3.8 billion in military assistance annually.

As tensions rise in the Middle East, this proposed collaboration may reshape future military strategies and operations.
