Breaking News: Suspect in Monaco Parcel Bombing Found Dead
The woman suspected of a parcel bombing in Monaco has been found dead, according to Ukraine’s security service (SBU). Anastasiia Berezovska, a 39-year-old Ukrainian, was wanted for planting a bomb in an apartment building on June 29, which injured a sanctioned Ukrainian multi-millionaire and his family.
Her body was discovered with gunshot wounds to the head. A cross-border manhunt had been launched after she reportedly fled Monaco following the attack. The SBU stated that Berezovska returned to Ukraine two days later, on July 1.
Two men, including an officer from Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence (MoD), have been detained on suspicion of her murder. They allegedly transferred funds to Berezovska’s accounts and were investigated as possible accomplices in the Monaco attack.
One of the men confessed to the murder and mentioned that another suspect was involved. During a search of the former law enforcement officer’s home, authorities found a basement room resembling a torture chamber.
An investigation is ongoing, with the head of the intelligence directorate, Oleg Ivashchenko, providing personal assistance.
