Breaking News: Increased Funding for Jewish Community Safety in London
The UK government has announced new funding to enhance safety for Jewish communities in London. Sir Keir Starmer stated this funding will improve protection and policing, allowing Jewish people to practice their faith without fear.
Crime and Policing Minister Sarah Jones emphasized that the government is providing record funding for this purpose. Mark Gardner, chief executive of the Community Security Trust, welcomed the increased support, saying it is urgently needed.
This funding package follows a £25 million emergency fund introduced in April after the Golders Green attack. The government confirmed an additional £32.4 million for protective security at Jewish sites, including synagogues and schools, for the 2026-27 period. This amount combines previously announced grants.
Other measures include £7 million to combat antisemitism in schools and universities, along with expanded community cohesion programs. These initiatives aim to strengthen safety and community ties across London.
