Fraudster Sentenced to Over Eight Years for Defrauding 115 Victims of £11.5 Million

Breaking News: Fraudsters Sentenced to Prison

On Friday, a man named Long was sentenced to eight years and four months in prison for fraud. He previously faced jail time in December 2018 for contempt of court after failing to help find missing client funds.

Long was charged with two counts of fraud, causing losses of over £11.5 million to 115 victims. He pleaded guilty to these charges in March at Southwark Crown Court.

His business associate, Raymond Simpson, was also sentenced in absentia to five and a half years in prison. Simpson is believed to be in Portugal and was convicted of two counts of fraud related to the same case.

During sentencing, Judge Gregory Perrins reviewed 37 victim impact statements. Some victims expressed feelings of guilt and shame due to their losses.

Judge Perrins stated that Long’s actions had a severe impact on many lives and emphasized that he had abused the trust of vulnerable individuals. The judge also noted that Simpson had helped Long by misusing trust account funds for risky investments.
