US Launches Air Strikes on Iran, Targeting Military and Nuclear Facilities Amid Escalating Tensions

Breaking News: US Launches Air Strikes Against Iran

The United States conducted air strikes against Iran on Saturday night, targeting coastal surveillance and air defense facilities, according to US military officials. Iranian media reported that an under-construction nuclear power plant in Darkhoveyn and Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz were also struck.

The US Central Command (Centcom) stated that the strikes aimed at Iran’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) were in response to an attack that killed two US troops in Jordan on Friday. One service member remains missing.

Iran has retaliated with its own strikes. Kuwaiti officials reported that an electricity and water plant was hit for the second time in two days. Bahrain announced that air defenses intercepted an attack.

Tensions have escalated, with both nations accused of targeting critical infrastructure. The US has reinstated its blockade of Iranian ports, while Iran declared the Strait of Hormuz closed.

On Sunday, the IRGC reported that two vessels ignored Iranian warnings in the Strait and were involved in an “accident.” The US embassy in Amman mentioned a “specific and credible threat,” leading to evacuations at Jordan’s international airport and seaport, but Jordanian officials denied this claim.
