Breaking News: Activist Released After 18 Months in Prison
London, United Kingdom – Charlotte Head, a 29-year-old charity worker, was released on bail after serving 18 months in prison. She was part of the “Filton 24,” a group of pro-Palestine activists accused of raiding a Bristol branch of Elbit Systems UK in August 2024.
Head was released despite being convicted of no crime. She had been detained longer than the UK’s six-month pre-trial limit. Following her release, she described feeling overwhelmed and isolated during her time in prison, where she attempted to take her own life.
The High Court recently ruled that the ban on Palestine Action, the group linked to her activism, was unlawful. All but one member of the Filton 24 have been acquitted of aggravated burglary. The remaining member faces additional charges.
Protests against Elbit Systems UK continue. On Thursday, activists from People Against Genocide blocked the Bristol site, leading to three arrests for causing disruption.
Elbit Systems UK has not yet responded to requests for comment.
