Breaking: Liverpool Intensifies Interest in Defender Jacquet Amid Transition in Backline

Breaking News: Liverpool Targets Young Defender Jacquet

Liverpool FC is reportedly in talks to sign young defender Jacquet from Rennes. The player has made three errors leading to shots this season, ranking among the top in the French league for mistakes.

Jacquet, who was named in the Under-19 Euros team of the tournament in 2024, has also captained the French youth team. He is known for his calm demeanor on the ball and ability to make precise passes.

Liverpool’s interest in Jacquet intensified over the weekend, with the player expressing a preference for joining Anfield over Chelsea. The club’s project was more appealing to him compared to Chelsea’s, which already has two young elite defenders.

Current Liverpool defenders Andy Robertson and Ibrahima Konate are out of contract this summer, while Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez have contracts running until 2027. Jacquet is expected to continue as a regular starter at Rennes for now, gaining valuable experience in Ligue 1.

He aims to prepare for life in the Premier League, acknowledging the challenges that come with the transition.
