The US military has confirmed an attack on a boat in the eastern Pacific, resulting in the deaths of three individuals. This operation was carried out by US Southern Command (SOUTHCOM), which oversees military activities in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The strike occurred on Friday and was described as a “lethal kinetic strike” in a region known for drug trafficking. However, no evidence was provided to support the claim that the deceased were involved in drug-related activities.
This incident marks a continuation of US military actions in international waters. Since early September, at least 148 people have been reported killed in around 43 similar attacks in the eastern Pacific and Caribbean.
A video released by SOUTHCOM appears to show the boat engulfed in flames after the attack. The US military maintains that these operations are necessary to combat drug trafficking in the area.
