Breaking News: Israeli Attacks Increase Gaza Death Toll
Israeli air strikes in Gaza on Saturday killed at least two Palestinians. This marks the third day of Ramadan and the latest violation of the truce agreement with Hamas, which has been in place for over four months.
The attacks occurred in Jabalia camp in northern Gaza and the Qizan an-Najjar area in the south. Since the ceasefire began, the total death toll has reached 614, with 1,640 additional Palestinians reported injured, according to the Palestinian news agency Wafa.
Israel’s military acknowledged one strike, stating it targeted a fighter who crossed into Israeli territory and posed an immediate threat. The military confirmed it would continue to act against any threats.
These strikes come shortly after a meeting of U.S. President Donald Trump’s Board of Peace, which discussed reconstruction and security in Gaza. Trump announced commitments of $7 billion from nine countries for reconstruction, alongside a $10 billion contribution from the U.S. However, this falls short of the estimated $70 billion needed.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu insists that Hamas must disarm before any reconstruction efforts can begin. Hamas has rejected a 60-day deadline to disarm, stating it will not relinquish weapons while the occupation continues.
