Job Title: Senior Caseworker (Level 2) – Home Study and Post-Release Services

Contract Duration: 36 months, ending on September 30, 2026
Overview:
Join the International Rescue Committee (IRC) as a Senior Caseworker in our Home Study and Post-Release Services (HSPRS) program for unaccompanied children. With over 17 offices nationwide, this multi-million-dollar initiative aims to ensure the safety and well-being of children transitioning from custody to sponsor care.
Program Goals:
The HSPRS program focuses on two primary objectives:
- Assessing the safety and suitability of potential sponsors before releasing unaccompanied children from custody.
- Providing ongoing case management support to ensure the stability and safety of children in their new environments.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Senior Caseworker, you will:
- Conduct initial in-home assessments with children and their sponsors, maintaining regular contact for up to six months or until the child turns 18.
- Develop individualized service plans that guide trauma-informed case management.
- Complete home visits to assess child safety and identify any concerns.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to facilitate the reunification of children with potential sponsors, including interviews and documentation of findings.
- Perform mental health assessments using validated tools.
- Collaborate with crisis support staff to create safety plans and ensure appropriate interventions.
- Connect families with community resources, including legal services, educational programs, and mental health support.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of all interactions and case progress.
Qualifications:
Candidates should possess:
- A Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, sociology, or a related field.
- Fluency in both Spanish and English, written and spoken.
- At least two years of relevant experience in child welfare, family reunification, or related fields, or one year with a master’s degree.
- Experience working with immigrant populations, particularly unaccompanied minors, is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of local social services and the ability to navigate the system effectively.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a multicultural environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other digital platforms.
- A valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
Working Environment:
This role requires in-person case management and travel, with a flexible schedule that may include evenings and weekends to accommodate the needs of children and sponsors. A dedicated workspace is essential.
Compensation:
The pay range for this position is between $25.00 and $31.73 per hour, based on various factors including location and candidate experience.
