FBI Investigates Climate Activists as Trump Administration Rolls Back Pollution Protections

Breaking News: FBI Visits Climate Activists Amid Policy Changes

Environmental group Extinction Rebellion reports that FBI agents have been visiting the homes of climate activists. This occurs as the Trump administration works to roll back pollution protections in the United States.

The New York chapter of Extinction Rebellion stated that at least seven of its members have been contacted by the FBI since Trump’s second term began. One activist received visits from two agents from the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force on February 6.

In addition, the Department of Justice has launched an investigation into another environmental group, Climate Defiance, following a peaceful protest that gained widespread attention.

Extinction Rebellion claims these actions are part of a broader effort to target peaceful protesters and protect the fossil fuel industry. The group emphasizes its commitment to non-violent direct action in advocating for climate justice.

The Trump administration has recently revoked a key environmental regulation, known as the “endangerment finding,” which has been crucial for regulating pollution. This move has sparked concern among various environmental and health organizations, leading to a lawsuit against the administration.
