Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Caseworker to support vulnerable refugees, asylees, and eligible individuals under the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR). The Caseworker will provide strengths-based, client-centered case management to newly arrived and at-risk individuals and families. This role involves collaborating with clients, colleagues, and external partners to create tailored service plans that address individual needs and preferences, utilizing a wide range of medical, social, vocational, and other resources.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess client eligibility for case management services and conduct intake assessments, explaining program expectations and confidentiality.
- Develop personalized plans for clients enrolled in various programs, including SCM, OIRS, and Healthy Futures for Montana’s Refugee Children.
- Assist newly arrived refugee families in navigating case management services in accordance with PIR program guidelines.
- Support clients, particularly youth in Missoula, Flathead, and Lewis & Clark Counties, in healthcare navigation and case management.
- Monitor client progress and document services provided, ensuring accurate records in the IRC database, Efforts to Outcomes (ETO).
- Engage in community outreach to build a robust network of service providers, particularly healthcare clinics.
- Provide comprehensive orientation for clients on topics such as youth health and transportation systems.
- Respond to client crises, seeking supervisor guidance as necessary.
- Assist clients in requesting financial aid and track assistance within case files.
- Maintain current documentation in client files and attend relevant training and meetings.
- Potentially train and supervise volunteers and interns.
- Contribute to team engagement and cohesion initiatives within IRC Missoula.
- Foster a culture of learning and dialogue to uphold IRC values and policies.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in social work, public health, or a related field preferred.
- Experience: 1-2 years in case management, customer service, or a related role required; experience working with youth is preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong relationship-building and networking abilities.
- Effective communication in multicultural environments.
- Self-motivated with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
- Fluency in English; proficiency in Pashto, Dari, Arabic, Swahili, or Spanish is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and digital tools for data management.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a personal, insured vehicle.
Working Environment:
- The position involves a mix of office work, remote tasks, and fieldwork within the service area.
- Virtual services will be provided to clients in Lewis & Clark and Flathead Counties.
- Occasional evening or weekend work may be required, along with up to 20% travel.
Compensation:
- Pay Rate: $23.50 – $24.00 per hour, based on factors such as labor market conditions, job type, and individual qualifications.
