Breaking News: NYPD Destroys Illegal Scooters and Mopeds
The New York Police Department (NYPD) bulldozed over 200 scooters, mopeds, and motorbikes in Staten Island on Tuesday. This action is part of the city’s efforts to combat illegal and unregistered vehicles.
According to the NYPD, more than 5,700 “dangerous illegal vehicles” have been seized since January 2026. This marks a 10% increase compared to the same period in 2025.
The crackdown follows a tragic incident on April 1, when a 7-month-old was killed by a stray bullet during a drive-by shooting in Brooklyn. The suspects involved fled the scene on an illegal moped.
The NYPD continues to urge the public to report illegal vehicles to enhance community safety.
