Position Purpose
The Child Protection Facilitator will be responsible for providing specialized technical support in the prevention, detection, and response to risks and violations of children’s rights. This role ensures timely and coordinated responses based on a rights-based approach, prioritizing the best interests of children and comprehensive protection. The facilitator will also coordinate referral pathways for cases within prioritized communities and collaborate closely with the project team and technical staff from partner organizations.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the project is implemented with a focus on child protection, integrating age and gender considerations.
- Promote methodologies that guarantee safe actions, child participation, and risk mitigation for children and families.
- Manage the integration of child protection approaches within food security response actions.
- Develop and implement training materials for caregivers during family identification and resource distribution.
- Guide the safe identification and referral of child protection cases, linking them to local protection systems.
- Establish and maintain key inter-institutional relationships to enhance coordination and integration of child protection during project execution.
- Collaborate with the project protection specialist to ensure coherence and alignment in the response implementation.
Safeguarding Responsibilities
- Adhere to institutional policies to safeguard children and program participants.
- Create safe environments during interventions and implement measures to prevent abuse and exploitation.
- Collect documentation and participate in safeguarding evaluations.
- Report any concerns regarding child abuse or safeguarding policy violations.
- Educate children on self-protection and reporting mechanisms.
Gender and Inclusion Responsibilities
- Actively promote gender equality in all institutional and operational activities.
- Use inclusive language and communication that avoids reinforcing gender stereotypes.
- Identify and address barriers to full participation of children in community projects.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in social work, psychology, or related fields.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in humanitarian or development projects focused on child protection and psychosocial services.
- Experience in designing community intervention strategies in crisis contexts.
- Knowledge of child protection systems, legal frameworks, and public policies related to children’s rights.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong leadership and analytical thinking abilities.
- Effective teamwork and communication skills.
- Proficient in project planning and relationship development.
- Ability to work under pressure and deliver results promptly.
- Computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
