Rafael Nadal Reflects on Painful Tennis Career in New Netflix Series

Rafael Nadal, a legendary tennis player, has revealed the challenges he faced during his career in a new Netflix series. The 39-year-old Spaniard won 22 Grand Slam singles titles, the second-most in men’s tennis history, between his first French Open victory in 2005 and his retirement in 2024.

Nadal has been open about his chronic foot injury, which affected his ability to play and win matches. He stated that he often had to make difficult decisions regarding his health to continue competing. “If I hadn’t explored all that, I probably would have had 10 fewer Grand Slams,” he said.

Nadal’s career began in 2005 when he won the French Open at just 19 years old, defeating world number one Roger Federer in the semi-finals. However, that year also marked the start of his injury struggles, including a diagnosis of Mueller-Weiss syndrome, a rare degenerative condition affecting his foot.

In an interview, Nadal emphasized the importance of staying positive and determined despite his injuries. He expressed that his passion for tennis outweighed the suffering he endured throughout his career.
