Job Title: Engineering Supervisor – Sulfonation

Location: Salinas Victoria, Monterrey (Site-based Role)

Job Objective:

We are seeking an Engineering Supervisor for our Sulfonation team. The primary goal of this role is to lead work teams to ensure production plans are met while adhering to established standards for Safety, Quality, Hygiene, and Environmental practices. The supervisor will foster self-management within teams, promote safe work practices, and identify and eliminate risks that could harm personnel or facilities. This role is crucial for the effective functioning of our Management System, guiding and facilitating group actions to resolve SHE (Safety, Health, and Environmental) issues.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead work teams to ensure production plans are fulfilled while maintaining safety and quality standards at minimal costs.
  • Coordinate operations to meet weekly production plans, effectively managing materials, equipment, and personnel.
  • Supervise operations to ensure timely and accurate production processes in line with best manufacturing practices and UMS (Unilever Manufacturing Standards).
  • Analyze team productivity and efficiency, providing consultancy for decision-making and problem-solving while implementing necessary actions to maximize results.
  • Oversee personnel management, maintaining discipline and promoting awareness while applying appropriate sanctions when necessary.
  • Identify training needs and collaborate on training plans, ensuring teams are equipped with essential teamwork skills.
  • Encourage teams to monitor material consumption to prevent losses due to design, operation, or maintenance issues.
  • Ensure proper recycling, recovery, or disposal of waste to mitigate environmental and microbiological risks.
  • Monitor compliance with safety regulations and promote health and safety policies within the workplace.
  • Continuously communicate and reinforce safety, occupational health, and environmental policies during daily operations.
  • Participate actively in risk assessments and ensure that significant environmental impacts are addressed in organizational development and change management.
  • Set objectives and goals in collaboration with SHE for both self and team members.
  • Familiarize and apply all SHE procedures, including spill containment methods, evacuation plans, and incident investigation protocols.
  • Engage in identifying training needs and participate in training activities as required, ensuring all new employees receive comprehensive SHE induction.
  • Ensure adherence to SHE standards by employees and contractors.
  • Conduct planned SHE inspections and manage safety audits.
  • Investigate incidents, determining root causes and establishing corrective actions, while ensuring follow-up and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with team members to report incidents and communicate lessons learned.
  • Assume responsibility for assigned roles in the Plant Emergency Action Plan.
  • Manage safety cards, S-point controls, and SHE audits.
  • Maintain 5S standards and housekeeping in the work area.
  • Ensure compliance with UMS programs and participate in all related pillars.
  • Understand and apply the matrix of roles and responsibilities relevant to the position.

Required Qualifications:

  • Degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in English.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or World Class Manufacturing (WCM) principles.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 3 to 4 years of relevant experience.
