Breaking News: Drone Strike in Central Sudan
A drone strike on a market in Abu Zaeima, North Kordofan state, has killed at least 11 people and injured dozens more, according to Emergency Lawyers. The attack occurred on Saturday and targeted a paramilitary-controlled area.
Emergency Lawyers reported that there have been similar drone strikes in nearby villages within the last 24 hours. The organization has not specified who conducted the attack, and neither the army nor the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has claimed responsibility.
Witnesses reported that another drone hit a fuel station in el-Obeid, the capital of North Kordofan, later that day. Four wounded civilians were taken to a local hospital.
In the past week, nearly 70 people have died in separate drone strikes in Kordofan states. The United Nations noted that at least 880 civilians were killed in drone strikes across Sudan from January to April.
The ongoing conflict in Sudan has led to the deaths of tens of thousands and displaced nearly 13 million people, creating a major humanitarian crisis.
