US Launches Strikes on Iran Following Drone Attack on Panama-Flagged Vessel in Strait of Hormuz

Breaking News: US Strikes Iran After Drone Attack

The United States has conducted new airstrikes on Iran. This follows a drone attack on a Panama-flagged vessel in the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday.

US Central Command (Centcom) reported that multiple targets were hit in Iran. These included military equipment, communication systems, air defense sites, and drone storage facilities. Centcom stated that Iran did not honor a ceasefire agreement and launched a drone attack that struck the MT Kiku tanker.

Centcom confirmed that commercial vessels continue to operate in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran has not yet commented on the recent strikes.

These actions come less than a day after the US launched retaliatory strikes in response to a drone attack on the Singapore-flagged cargo ship MV Ever Lovely on June 25. Centcom described the US strikes as a “powerful response” to Iranian aggression against commercial shipping.

Iran’s foreign ministry stated it had carried out strikes against US-linked targets in retaliation. It blamed the US for the ongoing conflict.

The US and Iran had agreed on June 17 to cease hostilities for 60 days, aiming for safe passage of commercial vessels. The Strait of Hormuz is crucial for oil and gas shipments.
