Breaking News: Drone Strikes Target Russian Oil Facilities
Ukrainian drone strikes have targeted multiple oil facilities in Russia, including a recent attack on an oil refinery in Omsk, Siberia. This facility is approximately 2,500 kilometers from Ukraine’s border. The drone reportedly flew undetected for several hours, raising concerns about the effectiveness of Russia’s air defenses.
Prior to the Omsk strike, drones hit an oil terminal in St. Petersburg and a refinery in Moscow, generating viral videos of explosions. In Crimea, Ukrainian drones are attacking military logistics, oil refineries, and power plants almost daily, leading to fuel and food shortages and a declared state of emergency.
Local residents describe the situation as “catastrophic,” reminiscent of the 1990s after the Soviet Union’s collapse. Russian President Vladimir Putin has claimed to have stabilized the country since then. However, the ongoing war has brought drone strikes to Moscow and widespread fuel rationing.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky plans to inform NATO and seek support for additional interceptor missiles to protect Ukrainian cities. This comes as he aims to convince international leaders that Ukraine can shift the war’s momentum and push for peace negotiations.
