Breaking News: US Military Strikes Continue in Iran
The US military has conducted its seventh night of airstrikes on Iran. This follows President Donald Trump’s declaration that a temporary ceasefire agreement is “over.” The Central Command (Centcom) stated the strikes aim to weaken Iranian military capabilities.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) claimed two oil tankers exploded in the Strait of Hormuz due to mines. Centcom dismissed this claim as false. Reports from Iranian media indicated explosions in Yazd, Qeshm Island, and Bandar Abbas.
Shipping traffic in the Strait of Hormuz has mostly halted due to ongoing strikes. This waterway is crucial, accounting for about one-fifth of global oil and liquefied natural gas supplies.
Iranian armed forces reported attacks on multiple US military bases in the Gulf, including Kuwait, Bahrain, and Syria, which the US denied. Kuwaiti officials stated that Iranian drone strikes injured soldiers and damaged infrastructure.
In Hormozgan province, seven people were reported killed in US strikes. The US maintains that its attacks targeted military sites, not civilian infrastructure. A spokesperson confirmed that the strikes focused on military logistics.
Tensions remain high as negotiations for a permanent ceasefire continue to stall.
