Breaking News: Woman Killed by Own Car While Saving Cat

A 75-year-old woman, Jacqueline Davies, was run over and killed by her own car in Cwmbran, Torfaen, on July 6. The incident occurred after she exited her red Ford Fiesta to rescue a cat while parked on a hill. Witnesses reported that the handbrake failed, causing the vehicle to roll forward and strike her.

Gwent Coroners’ Court revealed that Davies managed to call emergency services after the accident but later died in the hospital. She was taken to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff with serious injuries and passed away the following day.

Coroner Rose Farmer reported that the provisional cause of death was a major haemorrhage and trauma related to the accident.

Davies’ family expressed their heartbreak over her sudden loss, describing her as a strong and independent woman. They are seeking answers about the circumstances surrounding her death.

Gwent Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident near Bryn Millwr, Hollybush, between 10:00 BST and 10:30 BST on July 6 to come forward. The inquest into Davies’ death will continue on April 13, 2027.
