Texts between singer D4vd and 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, who he is accused of murdering, reveal she had been pregnant and had an abortion before her death. These messages were presented during a court hearing to decide if D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, should stand trial.
In one message from June 2024, Celeste asked Burke, “What [if] the first abortion didn’t work?” At the time, she was 13, and he was 19. Prosecutors allege Burke killed her after she threatened to expose his abuse of a minor. He has pleaded not guilty to murder and sexual abuse charges.
Burke expressed regret in a message from January 2024, stating he was sorry for “putting her through this.” Celeste replied they were not ready to care for a baby. Burke also asked if the baby was his, to which she confirmed.
Prosecutors presented data from Burke’s iPhone, showing messages dating back to August 2022, when Celeste was 11. Her body was found in Burke’s Tesla in September 2025, a day after her 15th birthday. He was arrested in April this year, facing seven charges, including murder and child abuse.
