Breaking News: Houthi Missile Attack on Saudi Arabia
The Iranian-backed Houthis have claimed responsibility for a missile attack on Saudi Arabia. This follows Saudi airstrikes on Houthi targets in Yemen on Friday.
On Saturday morning, Houthi media reported that a missile strike caused fires in the Saudi city of Jizan. Saudi authorities have issued emergency alerts for the area.
The Houthis had warned of retaliation after the Saudi airstrikes in the Yemeni port city of Hodeida. There were no reports of US or Iranian airstrikes in the region overnight.
The US military has not announced any new strikes against Iran, ending a two-week streak of attacks. During this period, Iran conducted drone strikes on US military bases in the Middle East.
In Tehran, an Omani delegation arrived for talks regarding the Strait of Hormuz. Meanwhile, the US military disabled a tanker attempting to evade a blockade on Iranian ports.
Following these events, crude oil prices fluctuated, reaching over $100 a barrel due to rising tensions, before dropping again to around $96.
The Houthis stated that Saudi attacks on civilian facilities represent a dangerous escalation and promised a response. Saudi authorities have not yet commented.
