Breaking News: Conservative Leader Calls for Emergency Legislation on Prison Releases
Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch has urged Prime Minister Andy Burnham to introduce emergency legislation to prevent the early release of hundreds of prisoners. This call follows Burnham’s announcement last week to pause a scheme that would have released approximately 700 prisoners in September.

Badenoch emphasized the need for immediate action, stating that without new legislation, dangerous offenders could be released shortly after Parliament resumes on September 1. She has called for the government to revoke existing legislation that permits early release for certain offenders.
