Breaking News: Supreme Court to Review Palestine Action Ban
The Supreme Court will review the ban on the protest group Palestine Action, which was enacted under terrorism legislation. The court confirmed on Thursday that co-founder Huda Ammori has been granted permission to appeal the ban, which took effect in July 2025.
Details of the appeal are not yet public, but it is reported that Ammori argues the ban violates human rights. The court has stated that the appeal will be expedited and heard after the summer break. The outcome could significantly impact terrorism legislation in the UK.
This decision follows the recent trial of Palestine Action members who caused over £1 million in damage to an Israeli-owned defense firm near Bristol. Four members were sentenced, including one for grievous bodily harm against a police officer.
Separately, over 2,000 people may face trial for protesting against the ban by supporting a proscribed group. On Thursday, 117 protesters were arrested outside Westminster Magistrates’ Court, primarily for showing support for Palestine Action.
The Supreme Court’s review comes after the Court of Appeal upheld the ban, stating the Home Secretary acted within her powers.
