Apple Appoints John Ternus as New CEO, Succeeding Tim Cook
In a significant transition within its leadership, Apple has announced that John Ternus, a seasoned veteran of the company, will assume the role of CEO on September 1, 2026. Ternus takes over from Tim Cook, who will transition to the role of executive chair of Apple’s board of directors later this year.

John Ternus has been with Apple since 2001, accumulating a wealth of experience that positions him well to lead the company into its next chapter. His rise through the ranks includes serving as vice president of hardware engineering in 2013 and eventually leading the hardware division in 2021. Under his guidance, Apple has seen significant product innovations, including the development of its proprietary silicon chips for the Mac line, which have notably boosted sales since the transition from Intel processors in 2020.

Under Ternus’s leadership, Apple has launched groundbreaking products, including the Apple Watch and AirPods, both of which have become major contributors to Apple’s revenue streams. However, the Vision Pro headset, another high-profile product released during his tenure, did not meet sales expectations.
