Operation Minjiang: A Collaborative Effort
This significant seizure is part of Operation Minjiang, a comprehensive investigation involving multiple agencies, including the Queensland Police, the Australian Border Force, and several other law enforcement bodies. The operation was initiated following the discovery of 40kg of cocaine found in the waters off a boat ramp at Midge Point, located on the Whitsunday Coast.
As part of the investigation, authorities have also detained a vessel believed to be connected to the drug importation operation, identified as the MV Wealth. This “mother vessel” was apprehended in the Solomon Islands, adding another layer to the complex inquiry.

The arrested individuals made their first court appearance on Saturday at a local court in New South Wales. Following the proceedings, they were remanded in custody. Their next court appearance is scheduled for August 13 at the Penrith Local Court, where they will face further legal scrutiny regarding the charges against them.
