Breaking News: Explosion in Monaco Injures Three
An explosion occurred at a residential building in Monaco, injuring three people, two critically. The blast happened shortly before 21:00 local time on Rue Révérend Père Louis Frolla, near the French border.
Minister of State Christophe Mirmand stated it is “very likely an attack.” Police are currently investigating. The explosion was caused by an explosive device containing bolts and pellets. A suspect was seen fleeing towards France on video surveillance.
More than 100 police and emergency personnel responded to the scene. Mirmand noted that this is the first incident of its kind in Monaco’s history.
The two critically injured victims have been taken to a hospital in Nice, France. Their identities have not been disclosed.
Monaco’s Prince Albert II called the incident a “heinous crime” and a shock to the community. He confirmed that state services are working with French authorities.
Officials plan to provide an update on the situation on Tuesday local time.
