Breaking News: Violence in the West Bank
Israeli settlers have set fire to two mosques, as well as cars and agricultural land in the occupied West Bank, according to Palestinian officials. This follows a recent clash near the village of Tal, which resulted in the deaths of four Palestinians and two Israelis.
Reports indicate that settlers attacked two villages overnight, vandalizing cars and stealing property. The mayor of Qusra stated that a mosque under construction was set ablaze, with graffiti including the word “revenge” found on its walls. Another mosque in the village of Kour was also targeted.
The Israeli military has deployed troops to Qusra, and police are investigating the incidents. Palestinian officials claim there have been multiple settler attacks across the West Bank since the deadly clash on Friday.
In response, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have conducted raids and arrested dozens of Palestinians as part of a “counter-terrorism” operation. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has promised “powerful action” in response to the violence.
The UN reports that over 1,100 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank, with at least 35 deaths attributed to settler attacks. The situation remains tense and continues to escalate.
