Breaking News Report
As of Tuesday morning, authorities have identified 27 victims who died in a fire at a bar in Thailand. More than 70 people are injured, with 24 in critical condition.
Preliminary investigations indicate that a short circuit in an air conditioner may have caused the blaze. Witnesses reported that the bar was dark and difficult to navigate. One visitor mentioned a “winding route” to the bathroom and poorly marked exits.
Fire safety expert Busakorn Saensuk found that a door near the restrooms was locked, and two entrance doors were blocked by furniture. Customers likely ran toward the back during the fire but were unable to escape.
Busakorn stated that if emergency lights had been functioning, people might have noticed the locked door and found a way out. She also noted that the stage was decorated with flammable materials, contributing to the rapid spread of the fire.
The Thai indie band Thotsakan, which was performing at the time, has lost two members in this tragedy.
