Breaking News: Coal Mine Blast in Northern China
At least 82 people have died and two are missing after a coal mine explosion in northern China. The incident occurred at the Liushenyu Coal Mine.
This blast is reported to be the worst mining disaster in China since 2009. Chinese President Xi Jinping has ordered that all efforts must be made in the search and rescue operation.
Rescue teams began work early on Sunday morning. They used mine inspection robots equipped with gas sensors and infrared cameras to help locate survivors underground.
The explosion took place in Shanxi province, and officials are continuing to assess the situation.
