Breaking News: Iranian President Visits Pakistan
Islamabad, Pakistan – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian is arriving in Islamabad for a state visit on Tuesday. This is his first trip abroad since the U.S. and Israel launched attacks on Iran on February 28.
Pezeshkian’s visit follows the announcement of a 60-day roadmap for U.S.-Iran talks in Switzerland, which was mediated by Pakistan and Qatar. During his time in Islamabad, he will meet with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari, among other Pakistani officials.
The two nations will discuss the outcomes of the recent Switzerland talks and explore cooperation in trade, energy, and border security. This visit marks Pezeshkian’s second trip to Pakistan since taking office in July 2024.
In June 2025, he visited Pakistan following an Iran-Israel conflict, during which twelve bilateral agreements were signed. The relationship between Iran and Pakistan has faced challenges, including military confrontations in early 2024, but both sides have worked to restore diplomatic ties.
Pezeshkian’s visit is seen as a significant step in strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.
