Breaking News: Israeli Forces Kill Palestinian Man in Jenin
Israeli forces killed a 34-year-old man in the Jenin refugee camp on May 16, 2026, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health. The victim, identified as Nour al-Din Kamal Hassan Fayyad, was shot during a targeted operation by Israeli troops.
The Israeli military stated that its soldiers fired after Fayyad attempted to “infiltrate” an area where they were operating. The area is reportedly off-limits.
Since January 2025, Israel has conducted extensive military operations in Palestinian refugee camps in the northern West Bank. The United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA, reports that these operations have displaced around 40,000 Palestinians.
On the same day, Israeli soldiers arrested a young Palestinian man in the Shu’fat refugee camp, northeast of Jerusalem. Another Palestinian was arrested in the village of Zawata, west of Nablus. Reports also indicate that Israeli settlers assaulted a Palestinian in the town of Sinjil.
Israeli forces raided several locations, including the cities of Tubas and Qalqilya. In Turmus Aya, settlers set fire to an agricultural room and wrote racist slogans.
