Breaking News: Fire Update in Glenmore Area
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) reported on Monday evening that visible flames have reduced in the Glenmore area, but large areas remain smouldering. The fire is still burning deep in the peat soil.
Helicopters, funded by Forestry and Land Scotland, will continue water bombing efforts on Tuesday. Drones with thermal cameras will assist in detecting hotspots.
The fire began near the village of Glenmore, outside Aviemore, on July 15. This incident led to the evacuation of residents and nearby campsites.
At its peak, over 500 firefighters were involved in the response. Police Scotland declared it a “major incident” on Friday.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely. Further updates will be provided as they become available.
