Breaking News: US Approves $8.6 Billion Arms Sales Amid Conflict

The United States has authorized $8.6 billion in arms sales to Middle Eastern allies in response to the ongoing US-Israel war against Iran.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio cited emergency circumstances, allowing these sales to proceed without Congressional approval.

The arms sales include advanced weapon systems, with Israel receiving a precision kill weapon system (APKWS) valued at $992 million. Kuwait will acquire battle command systems for $2.5 billion. Qatar is set to buy an APKWS and restock its Patriot defense systems for nearly $5 billion. The United Arab Emirates has been approved for an APKWS purchase worth $148 million.

The US State Department stated it provided a detailed justification for the urgent sales, emphasizing national security interests. The sales bypass the congressional review process outlined in the Arms Export Control Act.

The ongoing conflict has led to increased missile and drone attacks on Israel and Gulf states, depleting their US weapon stockpiles. Concerns have emerged regarding the US military’s readiness for potential conflicts elsewhere, notably with China.
