Breaking News: Ceasefire Violations Reported Amid Ongoing Attacks
Russia and Ukraine have accused each other of violating a short ceasefire that began on May 8, coinciding with Victory Day celebrations. The ceasefire is set to last until May 10.
The Kremlin reported that Russian forces downed 264 Ukrainian drones early Friday, claiming attempted attacks on Moscow and the Perm region. Russian officials warned that any disruptions would lead to a significant missile response against Kyiv, urging foreign diplomats to evacuate the capital.
In related news, the Russian transport ministry announced that 13 airports in southern Russia ceased operations due to drone attacks. An administrative building in Rostov-on-Don was struck, but no casualties were reported.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russian forces continued their assaults overnight, with over 140 attacks and more than 850 drone strikes reported by morning. He emphasized Ukraine’s commitment to defend its positions and retaliate against Russian strikes.
Kyiv also claimed to have targeted a Russian oil facility in Yaroslavl as part of its response to ongoing attacks. Both sides have rejected each other’s ceasefire proposals, leading to continued hostilities.
