Gustavo Duque Saez, the mayor of Chacao, reported that at least two buildings have completely collapsed in the area. Eighteen people have been rescued alive, and over 500 emergency workers are on-site assisting with rescue operations.

Maiquetía Airport, the main international airport near Caracas, is closed due to earthquake damage. Metro and train services across the country have been suspended, and classes will be canceled for the rest of the week.
