Breaking News: BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting Begins in New Delhi
A meeting of BRICS foreign ministers started today in New Delhi, India. The event will last for two days and is expected to address key global issues, including economic cooperation.
Iran’s ongoing conflict is likely to be a major topic of discussion. The meeting coincides with U.S. President Donald Trump’s state visit to China, which has resulted in China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi not attending. Instead, China will be represented by Ambassador Xu Feihong.
Foreign ministers from Brazil, Russia, South Africa, and Iran are present. Notable attendees include Brazil’s Mauro Vieira and South Africa’s Ronald Lamola. Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has arrived in New Delhi for the discussions.
The theme of the meeting is “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation, and Sustainability.” Sessions will focus on healthcare collaboration and pressing health challenges.
Meetings will take place at Bharat Mandapam, with sessions scheduled throughout the day. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will join a conference call with leaders at 1 PM local time.
This meeting is a precursor to the 18th BRICS summit scheduled for September in India.
