Colin Sutton Becomes First Reform UK Candidate Elected as Police and Crime Commissioner for Norfolk

Breaking News: Colin Sutton Elected as Police and Crime Commissioner for Norfolk

Colin Sutton, a former detective, has been elected as the first Reform UK candidate for Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) in Norfolk. He received 32,647 votes, winning by a majority of 14,299 against Conservative candidate Matthew Taylor, who garnered 18,343 votes.

The by-election took place following the resignation of Sarah Taylor, a former Labour Party commissioner who became an independent. Voter turnout for the election was 17.14%, with some polling areas reporting turnout as low as 6%.

Sutton is known for leading high-profile murder investigations, including the case of serial killer Levi Bellfield. After retiring in 2011, he moved to Norfolk and has remained active in media discussions about policing.

Sutton stated he aims to focus on rural crime and plans to begin work on Monday. This election may be the last for PCCs, as there are plans to abolish the role and devolve powers to create a mayoralty for Norfolk and Suffolk.

Full election results include:

  • Colin Sutton, Reform UK: 32,647 (Elected)
  • Matthew Taylor, Conservative: 18,343
  • Martin Schmierer, Green Party: 16,907
  • Others received fewer votes.

Further updates will follow.
