Breaking News: Former Afghanistan Cricketer Shapoor Zadran in Critical Condition
Former Afghanistan cricketer Shapoor Zadran is receiving treatment for a rare and serious immune system disorder at a hospital in New Delhi, India. He was admitted in January with advanced hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) and is currently in the intensive care unit (ICU).
Zadran’s brother, Ghamai Zadran, reported that Shapoor was initially improving after treatment. However, he experienced a relapse and had to be readmitted to the hospital. Ghamai stated that Shapoor had a severe infection, including tuberculosis, which affected his brain.
HLH is a life-threatening disorder that impacts the immune system, leading to excessive activation of certain white blood cells. This condition can arise from various infections and cancers.
Shapoor Zadran, 38, represented Afghanistan in 43 one-day internationals and 37 T20 internationals between 2009 and 2020. He was part of Afghanistan’s debut team in the 2015 Cricket World Cup.
Social media has seen an outpouring of support for Zadran, with many cricket stars sending their well-wishes during this challenging time.
