Breaking News: Trump Criticizes Iran Over Ceasefire Agreement
United States President Donald Trump has criticized Iran after reports emerged about a potential ceasefire agreement. In a post on Truth Social on Friday, Trump labeled the reported terms as “fake news” and stated they had “NOTHING to do with the terms that were agreed to, in writing.”
Trump described negotiations with Iran as dealing with “very dishonorable people,” claiming there is no good faith in their discussions. This statement follows recent efforts to establish a lasting end to the conflict initiated by the US and Israel against Iran on February 28.
The Iranian state news agency, IRNA, published seven main points of the deal, indicating limited concessions from Iran. The report stated that no new agreements were made regarding Iran’s nuclear program and that discussions on this topic would begin 60 days after signing a Memorandum of Understanding with the US.
Additionally, the report mentioned that Iran will not relinquish control of the Strait of Hormuz and will instead address the matter with Oman. A portion of Iran’s frozen assets is set to be released upon signing, with further negotiations planned for lifting sanctions and compensation for war damage.
Tensions continue as the US and Iran have exchanged strikes in recent weeks. Trump announced a halt to further planned attacks, citing a diplomatic breakthrough.
