Trump Rejects Iran’s Response to U.S. Proposal for War Resolution as “TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!”

Iran’s Response to U.S. War Proposal: Tensions Escalate in the Persian Gulf

On Sunday, Iran conveyed its response to the United States’ recent proposal aimed at ending the ongoing conflict via intermediaries from Pakistan. However, U.S. President Donald Trump swiftly dismissed the Iranian response, labeling it as “TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!” in a post on social media. This swift rebuttal reflects a significant setback to ongoing diplomacy aimed at resolving tensions in the Persian Gulf, which have severely impacted maritime shipping routes and driven energy prices to new heights.

Iranian state media reported that Tehran perceived the U.S. proposal as tantamount to capitulation. Instead, Iranian authorities are demanding substantial concessions, including U.S. reparations for wartime damages, full sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz, a comprehensive lift of sanctions, and the release of Iranian assets that have been frozen.

The U.S. proposal aimed to facilitate a ceasefire in the regional conflict, reopen the critical Strait of Hormuz, and curtail Iran’s nuclear program. Trump’s rejection of the Iranian counteroffer lacked specific details, yet he accused Tehran of “playing games” with U.S. administration for nearly half a century, adding a confrontational note to the ongoing diplomatic standoff. U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz affirmed that the Trump administration is committed to giving diplomacy “every chance we possibly can before going back to hostilities.”

In related developments, Iran’s new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, reportedly issued decisive directives for military operations in response to the ongoing conflict, though specifics were not disclosed. The fragile ceasefire came under strain recently when a drone attack set off a small fire on a commercial vessel off the coast of Qatar. Iran has been accused of deploying drones that breached the airspace of the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait, with the latter claiming to have shot down two of them.

As tensions increase, Qatar’s Foreign Ministry condemned the ship attack, labeling it a “dangerous escalation” that jeopardizes maritime trade routes crucial for regional safety. The U.S. military has implemented a blockade on Iranian ports and reported thwarting 61 commercial vessels since mid-April. Just days ago, U.S. forces targeted two Iranian oil tankers allegedly attempting to breach the maritime blockade, raising the stakes for potential military responses.

Iran’s nuclear capabilities remain another major point of contention. The International Atomic Energy Agency has reported that Iran possesses over 440 kilograms of uranium enriched to 60% purity, which is a short technical step from weapons-grade material. An Iranian military official declared the forces are on “full readiness” to safeguard facilities where uranium is stored, claiming they suspect potential infiltration attempts.

Amidst these developments, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reiterated that the conflict is far from over, stressing the importance of removing enriched uranium from Iran. Concurrently, Russian President Vladimir Putin reaffirmed his country’s willingness to assist by transporting enriched uranium out of Iran to foster negotiations.

Further complicating matters, Iran’s deputy foreign minister has issued warnings against any foreign naval presence—specifically from France and the UK—intended to enhance maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz. Such moves, he asserted, would elicit a swift military response from Iran.

As the situation in the Persian Gulf remains precarious, incidents involving ships continue to rise, underscoring the urgent need for dialogue and comprehensive negotiations to address not only regional tensions but also global security concerns tied to energy supplies and nuclear proliferation.

In light of these events, the international community remains watchful as the potential for escalation looms large, marking a critical juncture in the enduring conflict in the region.
