Twelve Arrested in Right-Wing Terror Threat Against Islamic Event in Suffolk, Police Confirm

Breaking News: Twelve Arrested in Right-Wing Terror Threat

Twelve people have been arrested in connection with an alleged right-wing terror threat to an Islamic event at Shrubland Hall in Suffolk. The event, known as the UK Ijtima, was halted early on Sunday due to this possible threat.

Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) London reported that eight men were detained under section 41 of the Terrorism Act 2000. They remain in custody. Three additional men were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder, and a woman was arrested for assisting an offender. One person has since been released on bail; the others are still being held.

CTP confirmed that the investigation is related to right-wing terrorism and that searches are ongoing at various addresses linked to the arrests. Police do not believe there is any wider threat to the public at this time.

Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood emphasized the importance of police action in response to this credible threat. Commander Helen Flanagan stated that police will act swiftly against any potential threats, regardless of the target. The current threat level in the UK is classified as “severe.”
