Breaking News: UK Faces More Extreme Heat
The UK is preparing for more hot weather on Friday after a week of record temperatures.
On Thursday, Merryfield in Somerset recorded a high of 36.7°C (98°F). This was the hottest day of the year so far in Wales at 35.9°C, Scotland at 31.2°C, and Northern Ireland at 30.8°C.
A red weather warning for extreme heat will be in effect on Friday. This warning affects areas including London, Oxford, Sussex, and Kent.
Residents are advised to stay hydrated and avoid outdoor activities during the hottest parts of the day.
