Breaking News: New Commander-in-Chief Appointed in Ukraine
Maj Gen Mykhailo Drapatyi, 43, has been appointed as Ukraine’s new commander-in-chief, replacing Oleksandr Syrskyi. This marks the third leadership change since Russia’s invasion began in 2022.
Drapatyi’s nomination has received support from both civil society and military personnel. He is known for his extensive military experience and a reputation for strong leadership. He graduated from the Kharkiv Institute of Tank Troops in 2004 and began his service as a lieutenant.
Drapatyi gained recognition in 2014 for his role in liberating hostages in Mariupol. He later led successful operations against Russian forces during the ongoing conflict. In his new role, he will focus on mobilizing manpower and addressing corruption within the military.
