Breaking News: Flooding in Central Texas
At least one person has died due to severe flooding in central Texas. The flooding is caused by the Guadalupe River, which has risen dramatically after days of heavy rain.
Emergency officials are urging residents to evacuate the area. Texas Governor Greg Abbott confirmed the death and stated that at least 80 rescues have been carried out. The victim was not a camper.
The National Weather Service (NWS) reports that “catastrophic flooding” is occurring. They advise people to move to higher ground immediately. The Guadalupe River has risen 32 feet in just four hours.
Several counties, including Uvalde, Kerr, and Kendall, are affected. Videos show cars struggling through flooded streets, with water reaching window levels. Rescuers are seen saving small children from the rising waters.
The NWS continues to provide updates and warns that the flooding will worsen throughout the day. Residents are urged to prioritize their safety.
