Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has revealed he broke his finger during the warm-up before the Europa League final against Freiburg. The injury occurred just moments before kick-off in Istanbul.
Despite the injury, Martinez played the entire match on Wednesday, helping Villa secure a 3-0 victory. This win marks Villa’s first European trophy in 44 years. Martinez made two saves during the match, which featured goals from Youri Tielemans, Emi Buendia, and Morgan Rogers.
After the game, Martinez shared his experience, stating, “Today I broke my finger during the warm-up… I’ve never had a broken finger before.” He expressed pride in representing Aston Villa.
